A sushi bar is located at the back of the restaurant, though Wang hastened to assure me that Next is not just a sushi restaurant. “It’s more like Asian fusion,” she says. They will also do hibachi, fish, steak and more. She wants ingredients in her kitchen to be as local possible with all the ingredients. Eco considerations are a priority, as well. “We will recycle everything we can,” says Wang.
Wang hopes Next will appeal to all different kinds of Richmonders, from VCU students to date-nighters. The opening is planned for October 28. “We hope!” she says.
