Bus tour through Richmond’s music history

Join Richmond music historian Gregg Kimball, Don Harrison and their able WRIR assistants on WRIR Presents: A Richmond Music History Tour as they take you on a two hour journey through your city’s music history:

From the “Harlem of the South” days of the Hippodrome to the site of the original GWAR Slave Pit to an exclusive peek at the VCU Library archives, the Richmond Music History Tour is sure to be an unforgettable experience.

On Saturday, September 28th, there will be two bus tours that will meet at Banditos (2905 Patterson Avenue.) One tour will start at 11AM, the other at 3 PM. The tour begins with a multimedia overview of Richmond musical history from the turn of the century through the war years, then the bus journey proceeds to landmarks where musical history was made. Tour stops include The Hippodrome, Barky’s, VCU’s Cabell library’s Special Collections, and The Empire. Tickets are $25 and available online at Reserve your seat today, space is limited.
