Fan-area restaurants heavily represented in Elbys bids

The nominations for the 2013 Richmond Magazine Elbys were announced yesterday, and like last year, the Fan area is well represented.

A number of Fan-area restaurants have been nominated for the awards. Dale Reitzer of Acacia Mid-town has again been nominated as “Chef of the Year” (along with Tim Bereika of Secco Wine Bar, Peter Chang of Peter Chang China Café, and Lee Gregory of The Roosevelt), and Acacia is also up for “Fine Dining Restaurant”.

Heritage is up for “New Restaurant”, as well as “Cocktail Program”. Avalon’s Jen Mindell is up for “Rising Culinary Star”. Kuba Kuba is in the running for “Neighborhood Restaurant”. Finally, Kendra Feather (Garnett’s, Ipanema Cafe, The Roosevelt, WPA Bakery) has been nominated as “Restaurateur of the Year”.

The Elbys, named for renowned French Chef and Richmonder Paul Elbling, will be given out on Sunday evening, February 10, 2013 at a dinner at the VMFA. Net ticket proceeds will benefit the nonprofit Shalom Farms, Slow Food RVA,
Tricycle Gardens and the VMFA Foundation.
