Stretch of trees on Grayland slated for removal

A reader Jason has a question about a block of trees:

All of the trees surrounding Dominion on Grayland Ave and Stafford are scheduled to be cut down even though I remember them being healthy last year.

The city’s February 2012 Tree Removal List (PDF) indicates that the 9 trees are being removed on the 2400 block of Grayland Avenue are among the 98 slated for removal this month. The Grayland Avenue trees are apparently healthy: the stated reason for removing the trees is “variance, wires”. I’ve asked Public Works for clarification on what this really means & will post back when they respond.
