The oldest house in the Fan
Harry Kollatz Jr. profiles The Columbia House at 1142 West Grace Street in the Jan/Feb issue of R Home Magazine. A former Civil War hospital and one of the buildings of the original College of Richmond, the house was built in 1816/1817 by Philip Haxall, one of Richmond’s early business giants. The house is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places (PDF).
