Acacia’s Reitzer up for 2011 James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awar

Acacia Mid-town chef/owner Dale Reitzer is the only Richmonder to be named a semifinalist for the 2011 James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards. Reitzer, who was similiarly recognized last year, is among 20 semifinalists for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic. [...]

A panel of judges will narrow the list of semifinalists to five finalists in each category. The finalists will be announced March 21, and the winners will be named in a ceremony on May 9 in New York City. The full list of semifinalists can be found on the James Beard Foundation’s website, which was temporarily down Thursday afternoon because of high traffic. Beard, who died in 1985, was a cookbook author, a cooking-school founder, a restaurateur and a television cooking-show host referred to as the “Father of American Gastronomy.”
