Farmer’s Market coming to Monument
There’s a new farmer’s market in town, kids. It’s called Monument Market and will be on the corner of Monument and Robinson in the Fan. Personally, I hope this takes off, I’d love to have another market within walking distance (in addition to the Byrd House Market in Oregon Hill).
Here are the details:
Saturdays, 8 am-noon
May 1-October 2
Corner of Monument Avenue & North Robinson Street
Richmond’s First Baptist Church is excited to announce the arrival of the Monument Market, a weekly farmer’s market, centrally located in the Historic Fan District.
Support local growers and artisans while shopping for organic vegetables, baked goods, plants, flowers, cheese and more. Cash and checks accepted. FREE parking!
Vendors, if you would like to sell your goods, contact the director at monumentmarket@yahoo.com. You may also download the vendor application.

Yay, yet another option for where to get fresh, local food!
I hate to be a drag but streets are for motor vehicle traffic, and putting a large pedestrian attraction in a roadway median is asking for problems. Better locations might include one of the triangle parks along Park Ave, Fox Elementary, Scuffletown, or Paradise Park.
Runcible – I think the market will actually be in 1st Baptist’s parking lot on the corner of Robinson and Monument.
If anyone has any photos of local farmers markets, please post them on the Richmond Area Farmers Markets flickr site
