All Star Market Closing/Re-Sprouting
All-Star Market has posted this news on their website:
With some grief but mostly excitement, All Star Market and Deli will be closing its doors for good on December 21st, 2009. We will uproot ourselves from our current location and move down the street to open a new place called Sprout. Thanks for your support for the last three years, and come visit us soon!!
The new spot, according to the new Sprout website is across from Crossroads Coffee (at 1 N. Morris St.) and will open in January 2010 (in an increasingly crowded market what with Crossroads and Rev It Up nearby).
Sprout is one of the newest members of the localvore movement in Richmond Va, serving lunch and dinner seven days a week and offering to-go options, beer, wine, and quick-eats from our market. Localvore is the diet of eating locally, and Sprout is committed to dealing direct, whenever possible, with the farmers, growers, tofu makers, artisans, etc. that provide the food we serve. We plan to open in early January 2010 at 1N. Morris St. (close to VCU, and across from Crossroads Coffee Shop) and initially offer to-go sandwiches, soups, and items from our market. Then in the spring we will open our dining rooms, bar, and patio!

Hopefully these restaurants will bring MORE people to the area and create a critical mass that benefits them all. I am a big fan of Crossroads patio on mild days like today.
