Coming Soon: New Fan Restaurants
RichmondBizSense is reporting on 3 new Fan area restaurants coming soon.
First, the Republic, coming in October to the old Cabo’s spot (2053 W. Broad St. near Meadow). The idea, led by developer Justin French and business parter Matthew Applegat sounds interesting
French said the concept is a “whiskey bar with international comfort food.”
Second, Strange Matter is coming to the chameleon space at 929 W. Grace St. Start your office pool now for how long Strange Matter will be there. Here’s a quick rundown of recent occupants:
In the past few years, it has had a run of tenants including Twisters, Nine Two Nine, Nanci Raygun and, most recently, Bagel Czar, which never quite got off the ground.
Third, Artistry Restaurant & Lounge is coming soon to 802 W. Broad St. That location is in a section of Broad Street that would be well served by some new anchor businesses.

To it’s merit, it was Twisters for about 20 years. Everything after it lasted 2 years or less.
Yea Twisters! Boo, Strange Matter.
The best thing that could happen to 929 W Grace Street woould be to rename it Twister, serve simple bar food (maybe even delivery or lunch menu to offset liquor sales) and have $3-10 shows. I.E. Do what worked for 20 years.
I’m mostly interested in the Artistry Restaurant & Lounge. Any ideas about when that’ll open and the hours of operation?
