There’s been activity at the former Chop Suey bookstore at W. Cary and Randolph Streets, inside and outside. This morning a fresh coat of white paint was applied over the Chop Suey signage. Not sure what the new space will be.

I saw this morning! It broke my heart! Even though we still have Tuey, it’s never going to be the same.
Drove by it this morning. The storefront is now smurf blue. The hand made sign in the window said ” cary street mini mart.” The entire inside is covered in bleach white paint with every square inch covered in peg board and wire shelving. I personally think that this is going to be a low quality business. It would be a shame if this turns out to be true because the city has spent years beautifying the area. It’s also a shame because the building had such a wonderful vintage and artistic look.
Of course as soon as I move out of randolph they put a mart closer than the 7-11. It will serve cary st. residents well on those groggy mornings when you need an OJ or a gatorade.
