Bucky, can’t you just call the cops yourself?

There’s no reason why anyone should patrol a street they don’t live on. A specific party thrower’s neighbors might be fine with it.

I like to call the party patrol “Party Poopers”. Lol!! I am glad that they have someone set aside to take care of the party calls. The other officers can take care of more serious crimes like robberies and people breaking into cars.

Jerkoff eh? Try reading the whole post there buddy-boy. 3 AM on a Thursday is NOT 9:30. Sixteen blocks from the edge of campus is a MILE not 2 blocks. 200+ kids in a RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD is not a “Loud radio.” The “party patrol” is manned by OFF DUTY officers working EXTRA shifts. Look themselves in the mirror? Grow up!

Thank you for moving out of The Fan Blake. One less ill informed moron to deal with is quite helpful.

This is why i moved out of the fan.
There are some old people in the fan that live almost on a college campus always making some fuss about the young people.
“I dont understand why there are so many young people out when i’m trying to go to bed at 9:30 on a friday”
If you live 2 blocks from a campus, deal with it jerkoff.

The party police is a disgrace. It is the biggest waste of time and energy in Richmond. In a city where the crime is starting to look more like Detroit by the year, any officers that are trying to keep people’s radios down instead of actually worrying about the murderers and rapists, is an offensive idea. How does someone look themselves in the mirror after working a party patrol shift.

Hey, just a heads up. VCU really is trying to smooth out relations between students and residents. This months “stall seat journal” devoted 3 paragraphs with tips and tricks to get to know your neighbors. pick up some trash, say hello, smile! I can feel a new era beginning already.

Crackdown on landlords

Gainesville is hoping tighter restrictions will prod landlords to help police the actions of their tenants as part of an ongoing conflict between sometimes disruptive renters and the long-term residents of single-family neighborhoods.

The city already has codes designed to punish landlords if their renters get out of hand, but officials said they are too lax.

The new restrictions are part of a package of recommendations approved by two City Commission committees Thursday that tweak a number of city codes to allow swifter punishments and close loopholes.

The measures must be approved by the full City Commission in the next few months.

“I think we have been pretty innovative,” Commissioner Craig Lowe said at Thursday’s meeting. “But that’s not to say we can’t find additional tools and be more creative.”

University of Florida students have been pushing into new neighborhoods over the past years, and residents have said they often bring with them loud parties, an abundance of cars and trashy yards.

The recommendations do not add new programs but are designed to shore up existing policies.

The main weapon in the city’s arsenal against disruptions in the neighborhoods, a system that holds landlords accountable for the actions of their tenants, was the focus of many of the changes. The policy is designed to encourage landlords, rather than city officials, to police tenants.

Since it was established in 2003, the Landlord Point System works in a similar manner to the points drivers receive for traffic violations.

The city add “points” to the permit required to rent a unit every time its tenants receive a citation or warning for noise and code infractions.

When a landlord permit, which is required for every single-family unit rented out, amasses six points in a year, the city now has the option to revoke the license.

What is VCU doing about these inconsiderate students? Other universities expel students for violating community standards. Other universities don’t foist their problems on the surrounding community.

Why is the FDA paying for this? Other neighborhoods cannot afford to pay for the “Party Patrol” but are experiencing the same problems.

Party Patrol is, without a doubt, the wrong name for what the patrol is for. The Fan District has to PAY for TWO additional officers to patrol the neighborhood from 11 PM to 5 AM to ALLOW the other officers to concentrate on keeping our neighborhood safe. They don’t drive around The Fan looking for any and all parties with the intent of stopping the fun. Their intent is to shut down the 200/300+ people parties that “students” have right next door to families trying to sleep. Seriously, my “neighbors” had a party on a Thursday night that started after 11 PM. At 3 AM I went next door to find ANY of the 3 “neighbors” who lived there to ask them to shut it down and I couldn’t FIND them in the sea of people. All 3 of my elementary aged children were awake on a school night @ 3 AM thanks to my “neighbors.” Never mind that work for the adults was a mere 4 hours away.

Called the Party Patrol and was asleep by 3:30 AM.

Rock On Party Patrol… Rock On.

Just find a new name for the patrol.
